SUMMARY:Ice Cream Social: Kruse Museum Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Although you can stop by and visit the garden any time\, the Kruse House Museum is hosting their Ice Cream Social on September 6th from 1:00 to 4:00pm.\nThis is the primary fundraiser for the Historical Society that runs and maintains the Kruse House Museum. This event is held out in the garden and is a wonderful opportunity to visit the garden\, the museum and enjoy some tasty desserts.  \nTickets: Admission* is $20 an adult\, $10 member\, $5 kid\, and all ages are welcome. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance of the Kruse House on the day of the event.  \nThis year\, several Model-T Fords will be on display\, there will be a cake walk for children at 1:30pm as well as other historical games. For adults\, a $15 wine pull\, a 50/50 split-the-pot raffle\, and other door prizes all in support of the museum.  \nFor more information keep an eye on their Facebook page or stop by any Saturday between Noon and 3 to visit the museum.  https://www.krusehousemuseum.org/ \n* Discount for Garden Club Members! SUMMARY:2nd Saturday Gardening at the Kruse Garden
DESCRIPTION:One of our main volunteer projects in the garden club is the care and maintenance of the Kruse garden in downtown West Chicago. We are expanding the volunteer opportunities by having a regular weekend garden day each month. \nAll members are welcome to help at any or all of these dates\, no help is too small! Please mark your calendars and join as you’re able. Many gardeners have commented that they enjoy the camaraderie and have learned something new from time spent in the Kruse garden. \nWe will meet the second Saturday of every month\, 9-11:30am\, weather permitting. Please email WestChicagoGardenClub@gmail.org if you are interested in receiving updates on garden workdays and potential updates regarding weather. SUMMARY:Adopt-A-Highway Pickup
DESCRIPTION:It is time for our Fall Adopt A Highway roadside pickup. We will be meeting on Saturday\, September 20th at 8:45am in the parking lot of the Park District garage at 830 W Hawthorne Lane. We will start our cleanup at 9:00am Expect to spend about 1 to 2 hours walking on relatively flat sidewalk & grass. \nOnce a year\, all volunteers will need to sign a liability waiver stating that you won’t blame the city if you get hurt during the roadside pickup. Copies of the waiver will be available at Saturday’s event. In addition\, all participants should watch the State of Illinois’ Adopt a Highway video that can be viewed by clicking on this link: AAH Video. \nOrange safety vests\, grabbers and garbage bags will be provided. Some roadside trash can be soggy\, so please bring your own gloves to protect your hands. As\nalways\, please check the weather forecast and dress accordingly.
